Western Pleasure is a popular sport in Equestrian, which consists of showing the horses three gaits (walk, trot, canter) at a slow, smooth, controlled pace around an arena. The class will often have five to ten riders, or more and the judge will ask the group to show their horse at these gaits. The horse must be collected, rounded underneath himself, framed, and attentive to the riders cues. The rider must have the utmost control of the horse and be very elegant looking as they ride. It's also very important that the cues given to the horse are very suttle and that the rider can make the whole preocess look easy. Western Pleasure horses take years to train to a point in which they can sucessfully compete, while the riders take most of there life to master the sport.
